Motorcycle Patrolman Farmer
Patrolman Emery Farmer

Age: 26
Served:  8 months
March 1922 to November 8, 1922

On Wednesday, November 8, 1922, passersby found Patrolman Farmer and his wrecked motorcycle off the side of Dixie Highway.  He was taken to Mercy Hospital and pronounced dead from a fractured skull at 3 a.m.

Patrolman Farmer left a wife, Lena, and three children, Howard (4), Erma (2), and Eileen.  He is buried in the Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton.

An investigation revealed that the speedometer on the motorcycle was stopped at 75 miles per hour.  Additionally, when found, Patrolman Farmer’s revolver was missing from his holster.  He was well known for nabbing bootleggers and speeders in his short career.  No one was ever identified, but it is believed that he was probably run off the road by bootleggers.
