Cincinnati Police Badge
Badge typically worn in Patrolman Schroeder's era.

Age:  42
Served: 15 years
June 1, 1886 to August 17, 1901

On August 17, 1901, Patrolman Schroeder, of 551 Ringgold Street, responded to a report of a downed electrical wire at Charlton and Zeltner in Corryville.  Upon arrival, he decided to move the wire to a safer location using his wooden nightstick.  Apparently, there was sufficient moisture in the wood to conduct electricity and Patrolman Schroeder was electrocuted.

Patrolman Schroeder left a wife, Augusta (42), and four sons, Harry (18), Leonard (14), Charles (11), and George (9).  He was buried on August 19, 1901, in Walnut Hills Cemetery.  His wife joined him there 42 years later in 1943.
